Such a strange week, this one.
There's work. There's a fun little photography project. There are rose bushes that need trimming and a pineapple waiting to be sliced.
Normalcy reigns at the House of Kellerman.
But in between loads of laundry and NBA games on television we will suddenly be reminded that new life is stirring some 200 miles away – ten fingers and ten toes, ours for the kissing.
This is the hail-damaged, yet warm and protective roof under which our baby will thrive. Inside, a thin layer of satin finish masks a thick coat of anticipation.
She is not yet physically ours. We have no control over her nourishment, her protection, her comfort. But our hearts and our home are bursting with love.
A foolish woman would try to rush these next six days. A wise woman would take each moment, spend it well, wrap it up and ship it to heaven so as not to be wasteful of the precious gift He has entrusted to us – the here and now.
